The first thing I do is get a large mug filled with coffee (preferably Puertorican coffee!). Second, I put on one of the many podcasts I listen to on a regular basis or I put some music (more often than not I'll log in to Pandora). I listen to a long range of music but the music genres I listen to the most are Celtic music (Celtic Women), movie soundtracks (Thor, Lord of The Rings, Star Wars), Big Band music (Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby), Hip Hop (Eminem, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg), Reggeaton (Daddy Yankee, Tempo, Don Omar) and my favorite music to listen to is none other than Christmas music!
2. What's the part you least enjoy about doing art?
What I least enjoy process wise is inking. I'm always afraid I'll destroy my pencils because I'm not as confident with my inking as I am with my pencils. Besides that, what I least enjoy about my art is actually selling it. I mean, I love to make money from my art but I hate to be a business man; I'd rather do the art and let someone else deal with the business part.
Finishing my studies at the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphic Arts. There were a lot of circumstances that forced me to leave the school (nothing to do with the school itself, just outside problems), but I wish I could've been able to find another way to continue studying there.
4. Who is your hero?
I don't have one hero, I actually have a few heroes I look up to. First comes Jesus Christ, Leonardo Da Vinci, Jack "King" Kirby, Walt Disney, George Lucas, Joe Kubert, Roberto Clemente, Kobe Bryant, Stan Sakai, Todd McFarlane and a few others. My Grandfather was and still is a constant role model of me as well.
5. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I'd say Puerto Rico, but I'd need to have a steady income in order to justify moving from where I'm at. I miss my country but the reality is that there aren't that many job opportunities down there so I have to settle for vacationing there every other year.
I'd probably change the way I interact with people. For example, I hate talking on the phone and because of this; I can't seem to touch with my friends. So if I could change anything, that's be it.
7. What really makes you angry?
Quite a few things actually. Racism, child abuse, abuse against the elderly, indifference towards our fellow men; bullying.
8. What motivates you to work hard?
There's a good reason and a selfish reason as well. The good reason is my family, I work hard for my boys; so they never go hungry or lacking. The selfish reason is that honestly, I want people to remember my name and my work; I don't need to be famous but I don't want to be forgotten either.
My favorite thing is playing God. It's crazy fun when you sit in front of a blank piece of paper and twenty minutes later there's a brand new creation that spawned from your brain, you created that; there's nothing quite like it.
10. What is your biggest complain about your job?
The fact that I don't get as many clients as I'd like.
