As you may have seen or read from my social media outlets, this Saturday I'll be participating in this year's 12 Hour Comics Day; the first ever online challenge for this event! I'm quite excited about the opportunity to not only have an entire day of creating art but also to share and see what other creators come up with! This year I decided to change my approach a bit, instead of creating a brand new 12 page short story; I decided to dedicate the 12 hours to inking the third issue of my comic book series Project: New Wave. My personal goal is to finish inking the rest of the book, but if I can't; I'll just do as much as I possibly can.
An important part of any art challenge are the tools of the trade, the art supplies we love so much; and this challenge is no exception. But here's the thing, you can use ANY ART SUPPLIES YOU WANT; there's not restrictions when it comes to doing this challenge. You can use colored pencils, watercolors, acrylic paints, Copic markers, Sharpies, India ink... use any art supplies you're comfortable with. another way to go about taking on this challenge and making it even more challenging is to use art supplies you're not comfortable with, maybe you want to get better at brush inking or painting with watercolors; this is the perfect time to do just that!
For this year's challenge I'm going to be using a different set of tools though. Last year I went traditional with my art supplies: 8" x 11" paper, mechanical pencil, Steadtler eraser, Sharpie markers, Micron Pigma markers, Webster's India ink, brushes and Fabercastle PITT artist pens; this year my art tools will be my Mac computer and my XPPen 22e Artists Pro tablet. Other than my tools, the only thing I'll need are a list of great podcasts to listen to. I already have a list and I'm going to be share them with you so that way, not only will I be listening to some great ear candy; all of you can listen as well.
